Hello, Lookout Mountain Conservancy community!
My name is Maddi Myers-Osband, and I am thrilled to be Lookout Mountain Conservancy’s UTC Communications Intern. As I embark on this exciting journey with LMC, I want to take a moment to introduce myself.
I am a graduating senior at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, and I have dedicated my academic journey to a B.A. in Communications with minors in Sociology and Environmental Studies. My time at UTC has been dynamic and enriching, marked by my role as a student-athlete and two-year captain of the beach volleyball team. Juggling academics, part-time work, and leadership positions, I've also served as the PR and Graphic Design head for the Public Relations Student Society of America.
My passion for environmental communication stems from personal experiences growing up, witnessing water crises in my community. The lack of information and understanding propelled me towards a career where I could bridge the gap between complex environmental issues and the general public. I believe effective communication can empower communities, influence policies, and drive environmentally responsible behaviors.
The culmination of my academic and extracurricular experiences has led me to my current career goal: becoming a public relations professional in the realm of environmental communications. I aim to play a pivotal role in creating a more environmentally conscious society by informing, inspiring, and empowering individuals and communities.
As your Communications Intern at Lookout Mountain Conservancy, I am currently spearheading digital communication initiatives. From curating digital media content to writing engaging articles that tell the story of the Conservancy, I am committed to enhancing our online presence and engaging our community.
I look forward to contributing to the Conservancy's mission and being a part of the incredible work that lies ahead. Together, let's make a lasting impact on our environment and inspire others to join us on this journey towards sustainability!
