Meet Maddi: Our New Communications Specialist!
Please join us in welcoming Maddi Myers-Osband as the full-time Communications Specialist for Lookout Mountain Conservancy (LMC), following a successful semester as a Communications Intern with our organization. In her new role, Maddi will be responsible for developing effective organizational communication strategies, maintaining and enhancing social media strategies to boost community engagement, conservation efforts, programming, and more.
Maddi is a 2024 graduate of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, where she pursued a B.S. in Communications with minors in Sociology and Environmental Studies. Her academic journey has been marked by a balance of academics, work, and active participation in extracurricular activities. As a student-athlete, Maddi excelled as a two-year captain of the beach volleyball team, demonstrating her leadership and team-building skills. She also served as the PR and Graphic Design head for the Public Relations Student Society of America, further honing her communication and design abilities.
Maddi's passion for environmental communication is deeply rooted in her personal experiences growing up, where she witnessed water crises in her community. This exposure ignited her desire to bridge the gap between complex environmental issues and the general public, aiming to empower communities and drive environmentally responsible behaviors through effective communication.
In her free time, Maddi loves to explore the great outdoors through hiking, trying new recipes, and spending time with loved ones. She also loves to travel and experience new things, and it’s her dream to visit as many national parks as possible!
Maddi’s goal is to be a force for growth in her new role at LMC, extending the organization’s reach to better serve the community and the land. She aims to play a pivotal role in creating a more environmentally conscious society by informing, inspiring, and empowering individuals and communities. Maddi is eager to contribute to the Conservancy's mission and looks forward to making a lasting impact on the environment. With her background, passion, and dedication, she is poised to make a significant difference and inspire others to join the journey towards sustainability. Together with the LMC team, Maddi is excited to help foster a more environmentally conscious and engaged community.
