Her commitment to community service began in high school, where she played a crucial role in establishing an after-school tutoring program at Glenwood Community Center. This experience ignited her passion for community building, stating, "Seeing their perceptions change and that growth over time was really special."
Pierson continued her journey as a senior counselor at the Tennessee Volunteer Girls State, emphasizing her commitment to leadership development, aligning seamlessly with LMC's mission to build and sustain communities.
Pierson's diverse background in education and the arts positions her as a valuable asset to LMC's environmental initiatives. Her people-focused approach, adaptive mindset, and creative thinking set the stage for meaningful contributions. "The skills that I bring are people-focused and thinking about how to build a team, lead them, and make sure that there's always a plan A, B, C," she said.
Motivated by a desire to give back to her community, Pierson's return to Chattanooga is not just professional but a personal commitment to fostering connections within her hometown. "Being from Chattanooga is what instilled that love," she explained. "I'm just excited to hear people's stories and get to know their Chattanooga."
Pierson's role as VISTA Volunteer Coordinator extends beyond the professional realm; it's a dedication to connecting with people and bridging gaps within the community. "I'm excited about getting to know a lot of the volunteers who have been here a long time, seeing why they continue to serve in this way," Pierson shared, emphasizing her intention to inspire others to join Lookout Mountain Conservancy.
Eager to leverage her skills in capacity building, honed through experiences in education and the arts, Pierson aims to contribute to LMC's environmental initiatives, making a lasting impact on the intersection of community engagement and environmental stewardship.
