We are thrilled to introduce Caroline Wiygul, our new AmeriCorps VISTA Conservation Coordinator, who brings knowledge and enthusiasm to Lookout Mountain Conservancy. Bridging the gap between nature and community engagement, Caroline will lead transformative initiatives that will benefit both our local environment and the people who call it home.

A Mississippi native, Caroline studied at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she pursued dual bachelor's degrees in creative writing and environmental studies and a minor in leadership studies. While at the university, she immersed herself in various environmental initiatives, including urban agriculture and community gardening, where she discovered the tangible impact of hands-on conservation efforts.

Driven by a desire to make cities more sustainable, equitable, and green, Caroline furthered her education with a master's degree in green space design for human health at the University of Edinburgh. Her coursework focused on how design elements in green spaces can positively impact mental and physical health, emphasizing the importance of accessible and well-designed urban nature.

Caroline envisions creating functional, equitable, and beautiful urban landscapes that integrate seamlessly with natural elements. She believes that urban infrastructure, such as parks, trails, and green spaces, plays a vital role in enhancing everyday quality of life and building climate resilience. With a focus on sustainability and growth, Caroline aims to develop organizational systems and long-term projects that leave a lasting impact on our community and environment.

Caroline's values closely align with Lookout Mountain Conservancy's mission of creating resilient communities and preserving natural spaces. She is dedicated to making the outdoors accessible to all and preserving the rich history and stories embedded in our land. Through storytelling and community engagement, she strives to foster a sense of ownership and stewardship among our diverse community members.

Outside of work, Caroline enjoys crocheting, sewing, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. She is passionate about upcycling and sustainable living practices, reflecting her commitment to environmental stewardship in all aspects of her life.

Join us in welcoming Caroline Wiygul, our new VISTA Conservation Coordinator, as we embark on exciting new adventures in conservation, community engagement, and sustainable growth!
