MLK Day Brings Volunteers to LMC from Atlanta
Lookout Mountain Conservancy welcomed approximately 30 students from the Weber School in Atlanta on Monday, Martin Luther King Day, to the new LMC park expansion land at Cummings Highway and Old Wauhatchie Pike. Students volunteered their time for the community service work day to celebrate the lessons of Dr. King, including becoming engaged in the world around them and serving local communities.
The students removed invasive plants and overgrowth from a stone wall along Old Wauhatchie Pike that dates back to around 1880. They were educated by LMC staff about the plans for the expansion of John Wilson Park to over 20 acres, and the connection to the Tennessee Riverwalk.
