Conservation

The Lookout Mountain Conservancy works through partnerships and projects for wise land use and good growth across all 93 miles of Lookout Mountain. Lookout Mountain, the Southern terminus of the Cumberland Plateau, is a critically imperiled region representing the world’s most biologically diverse freshwater ecosystem and one of the world’s most biologically diverse temperate forests.

LMC works through partnerships on strategic long-term conservation planning. We create lasting agreements with individual landowners and federal, state and local agencies. We enable voluntary protection of land through conservation easements, donations and direct purchases. And we focus especially upon filling the gap between existing protected areas to create larger contiguous blocks on a landscape scale.
